Natural Disasters
These past few years have been a slough of natural disasters, and many have asked the question, “Where was God in all this?” The answer, I have it. God was where He has always been: Everywhere. “Well, why didn’t He stop this then? Isn’t He all-powerful?” Again, I have the answer. Have you learned to trust Him yet? No? Then just get ready for more trials and more blessings. Yes? Then why aren’t you? Try to learn something either spiritual or physical about this. God either plans or permits everything that has ever happened to us. There is a plan for it. 2Co_12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Only when you cannot not operate on your own does God operate fully in your life. Many people in Joplin, MO. are either becoming mad at God, or are falling into His Arms. People have had their homes destroyed and family members taken from this life. They look to God and say, “What have I done to deserve this?” For Christians, you were faithful. Have you ever heard of a man named Job? Have you ever heard Satan called the Prince of the Power of the Air (Ephesians2.2). Job was righteous man who suffered more in a short period of time than all the people in Joplin combined suffered. In one day, he lost everything he owned, his family, his friends, his health, the devotion of his wife, everything but his life; all because Satan gave a report to God that he had nothing to do (interesting fact, the Devil reports his activities to God, like a paroled convict would to his parole officer; thus Satan is on parole), and GOD told him to go after Job. This story only proves that God either plans or permits everything that happens. In the end God restored every thing back to Job, and then some. God wants to bless you, you just have to let Him. Remember God works in mysterious ways. Natural disasters are not so unnatural.
